MEDC Curriculum:

Morning Program ~ Children may arrive at MEDC no earlier than 7:15 am and must be signed in by an adult. They may bring breakfast and eat at a designated, supervised table. Morning activities include the daily art project, table games, the construction zone, dramatic play, and playground or gym games. Children leave for class at 8:35; kindergarteners are escorted to their classrooms by MEDC staff.

Afternoon Program ~ All children are signed in upon arrival by the Director or Head Teacher; parents are expected to contact the MEDC office at least 1/2 hour before school dismissal if a child will not attend MEDC on a day that he/she is enrolled.

Upon arrival, a nutritional snack is served family-style. The monthly snack calendar is posted on the Parent Board.  At least two snack options are offered each day.  Children may not bring snack from home.  Parents of children with food allergies must speak with the director before the child's first day of attendance.

After-snack choices include outdoor play, gym games, art, construction activities, dramatic play stations, music or dance, games, special projects, homework, and quiet reading or relaxing in the Book Nook.

'Homework Club' ~ Homework Club is offered (Monday through Thursday from 3:30-4:30) as a quiet supervised activity. Children may choose to attend Homework Club any day, or parents or teachers may request that children participate in Homework Club. If a child is signed up by a parent or teacher, staff will remind and encourage the child to attend. However, the choice is ultimately that of the child. Please speak with the director or head teacher if you would like your child to be reminded and encouraged to attend Homework Club.

'MEDC Kids Club' ~ Each week, children are offered the opportunity to participate in Club activities. On Club day, children in a specific grade are removed from the larger group for an afternoon of cooperative games and activities planned just for that age group. Clubs are supervised by the same staff members who are responsible for preparing grade-appropriate curriculum. Children who are enrolled in Fifth Grade Club also enjoy off-site field trips and Service Learning Projects.
